WHAT IF . ...

What if Michelle Obama took her First Lady photo with XJ bright lipstick, China human hair eye lashes and some Alibibi or Amazon hair extensions. What would you say? Would you say Michelle Obama is trending with the fashions. Would you say Michelle is cute without all that. Would some say, "she needs to get some Remy hair. Maybe Michelle is too old for that. Does self esteem, Black hatred or trending with artificial body parts acceptable? Is it a matter of fast-tracking towards a look you naturally don't have.

I will be mutually understanding. Wigs provides lot of services to Black women; aesthetics, beauty, time, money and convenience. And maybe hair extensions do the same thing but where do you draw the line for what is unnatural in length and looks. African women of North Africa are among the few women of the Black race, not Arabs, who can grow long hair. In a world where weaves, wigs, extensions, clip ins, you name it, have become the norm amongst black women in the U.S. and abroad, you may ask yourself, why can’t black women just grow their own, long hair? It is a proven fact that black hair will grow and grow, and grow. The challenge is, retaining the hair you grow. A black woman’s hair is always “starting over,” so to speak, due to dryness, breakage, and excessive shedding, therefore leaving them dependent on hair purchased from our European, Chinese, and Indian counterparts, to fulfill their “long hair” fantasy. What about the Booty? Sorry I digressed.

Isn't it ok that Michelle Obama was all natural because her needing to turn to faux products carry's behind it a harsh word, "fake." Anything fake is to advance what you don't naturally have. Fake Louis Vuitton, fake nails, fake hair, fake Gucci, fake Rolex....you get the point. You fake it by buying it. Coretta King, Betty Shabazz, Oprah Winfrey was and is a generation of good looking and all natural women. Yes for those times there were a few wigs here and there and some eyelashes but they were props and not permanent features.
